Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve put together the most frequently asked questions about Biofeedback at ForHealth. If you have any questions, please get in touch — we’ll be happy to answer them before you book your session.

What is Biofeedback?

It is a wellness approach that uses certified technology (SCIO equipment) to assess the body’s functional balance. Using very low-intensity electrical signals, it analyses the body’s responses and emits frequencies that support its natural self-regulatory processes. It is non-invasive, painless and does not involve medication.

Does biofeedback hurt?

No. The electrical signals used are very low in intensity and imperceptible. The session is relaxing and takes place whilst the client is comfortably seated or lying down.

How long does a session last?

A typical session lasts around 45 to 60 minutes, including the initial discussion, the scan using the equipment and the sharing of observations at the end. The duration may vary depending on each person’s goals.

How many sessions are needed?

It depends on the individual and their wellbeing goals. Many people opt for regular sessions; the therapist will help you determine the most suitable frequency for your situation during the first session.

Can children have biofeedback?

Yes. SCIO technology is suitable for both adults and children, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian and have undergone a prior assessment.

Are there any contraindications for biofeedback?

As a precaution, it is not recommended for people with pacemakers or other implantable electronic devices, during pregnancy, or for people with epilepsy, unless otherwise advised by their doctor. If in doubt, please let us know before booking.

Do I need to do anything to prepare beforehand?

No special preparation is required. We simply recommend that you arrive well-rested, well-hydrated and wearing comfortable clothing.

Does biofeedback replace medical care?

No. Biofeedback is a technology for bioenergetic assessment and rebalancing and does not constitute a method for diagnosing, treating or curing illnesses. The sessions do not replace medical care, clinical examinations, treatments or medication prescribed by healthcare professionals. If you have persistent symptoms or any medical condition, you should always consult your doctor or another qualified healthcare professional.
